Iain qualified in the Dark Ages (1959). After various hospital appointments in Scotland he worked in Borneo for almost 10 years, first with the Malaysian Government in Sarawak and later with the Government of Brunei as the country's only Specialist Anaesthetist.

He came to Australia in 1975 with a young family and joined the Central Medical Group in Mackay where he was a senior partner before leaving full-time medical practice in 2000 to work part-time assisting in our Industrial Medicals.

He also retains an active interest in genetics and neuroscience, having recently written an article on left-handedness and is currently researching the subject of mirror writing.
