Risk factors for lung disease
Read much more about Smoking here
Smoking

Smoking causes lung cancer however it also causes the lungs to become very irritated and the tissue to breakdown. This is the process that leads to emphysema, which can mean to say a person is extremely short of breath even at rest but particularly with exercise. If there is a past history of asthma as a child or a recurrent bronchitis it is very unwise to smoke as this can immediately bring on asthmatic attacks.

Passive smoking

Is also a problem. This is why public places have now been designated non-smoking and smokers are banned to little areas where they can pollute the area and upset each other and not cause passive smoking problems for the general public.

Some occupations

May make you pre disposed towards lung disease and these include asbestos, silicosis and possibly dust and possibly bar gas. If you have any problem in any area you should contact your supervisor who will advise you on the best safety preventative measures.
