About the Medical Assessment
The medical begins with an interview to assess any existing concerns the worker may have regarding their current health status. These assessments are conducted in a non-threatening manner, and provide you with the information and advice you need in developing and maintaining good physical and mental health and well-being.

We conduct a thorough check-up according to established Queensland Coal Board guidelines or guidelines given for the type of medical requested.

As the safety and well being of the worker is paramount we will instigate any further medical tests or procedures necessary. These tests may include ECG (electro-cardiograph - tracing of the heart). The Employer/Company will be contacted prior to these tests being undertaken

Should we discover any issues of concern with you, we will advise on further tests to establish the cause and nature of any condition concerning your safety and well being refer you back to your own GP for these tests to be done.

Should we find you unfit, we will advise on steps that should be taken toward recovery, and provide assistance, if needed, in facilitating such rehabilitation.

After the medical examination, you will have a clear understanding of your state of well-being and capacity for activity in the workplace.

Recommendations will be given as to the your fitness for duty, and steps that may need to be undertaken to ensure longevity of good health and safe working practices.

Further testing will require 30 minutes and includes:-

Urine Testing:

Testing urine - for routine sugar, blood and protein; some people need an additional drug test. These are NOT part of the Coal Board Medical and are performed at additional cost.

Spirometry:
