Associate Professor - Peter Fenner AM, MD (London), DRCOG, FACTM, FRCGP

Qualifications

M.B.,B.S. - basic medical degree

D.R.C.O.G. - Degree in Obstetrics

F.R.C.G.P. - Awarded by UK Royal College of General Practitioners for advanced work in General Practice

F.A.C.T.M. - Awarded by Australasian College of Tropical Medicine for advanced work in Tropical Health

M.D. (London) - one of highest degrees in medicine awarded by the University of London for advanced medical work. Enables Dr Fenner to become an Associate Professor to both the School of Medicine and the School of health and Science, James Cook University.

A.M. - Member in the Order of Australia (AM) Australia Medal – Queens Birthday Honours 26 January 2003.

The Australian Medal is an honour given for a special service to areas of achievement. This AM was awarded to me for services to Marine Envenomation, Surf Life Saving and to the community.

Dr. Fenner has been working in Industrial Medicine since 1980 with the then Mackay Electricity Board (MEB) as his primary site.

Other firms to appoint Dr Fenner as their Medical Officer for pre-placement medicals and occupational health and rehabilitation advice around this time were Goninan who have since undergone several name changes and are currently United Goninan, and the Boral Group of Companies.

1984 began exercise stress test evaluations.

1986 appointed as MBF (Medical Benefits Fund) "Healthy Heart" medical advisor for their exercise stress test and cardiac evaluations.

1993 Appointed Medical Officer to Farleigh Mill. Joined the Australian Faculty of Occupational Health as Associate.

1995 Appointed as Physician in charge of the Thallium Exercise stress testing for Mackay Radiology - nuclear exercise stress testing of the most severe types of cardiac condition, either before or post operative surgery. (resigned 2002).

1997 Gained MD (Doctorate of Medicine) from the University of London.

2000 Appointed Associate Professor of James Cook University School of Medicine.

2001 Appointed Associate Professor of James Cook University School of Health and Science.

2002 Expert witness at Industrial Commission of New South Wales.
